As the first post here I thought that it would be interesting to talk about, why did we choose the city of Hamilton to live. Well, my husband and I are from the biggest city in Brazil: São Paulo, which has around 12 million people living there, so imagine Toronto but 3x (I guess?) bigger, it is São Paulo.
I can confess to you that we were tired of our lives there: traffic everywhere (you could not go somewhere with less than 1h), the highest cost of living, and we did not have enough time to do whatever WE wanted to do unless going to work, going to school - in my case - come back home, and start all over again. This is just a brief of our lives there.
Hamilton was one of our choices because it is relatively small, it has fewer cost of living between our choices, and it is nearby Toronto. Because we did not know about a lot of cities in Canada - we have never been here - I started to watch some videos on YouTube, and one day I found a channel where they were talking about a website, where it is possible to estimate the cost of living in wherever city you want to know.
By visiting it, I put all the information that it asks me, like how many people there are in your family? Where your family plan to eat -at home or restaurants - Which frequency? Where your family plan to live - Is it an apartment or a house? Where is it located? And a bunch of questions. When I filled out all those infos, for each city that we were thinking of, Hamilton appeared as the less expensive. Besides, because the city is just one hour away from Toronto and we have choices to go by train or bus, we thought we could have more job options - not that the city does not offer a lot of jobs, but at that time, we did not know the reality here, so we had to think about that too. Furthermore, the city fits with our lifestyle: here we can find great restaurants, incredible places to hang out with friends, and anywhere we go, we meet nature easily.

To sum up, if you are thinking about what city to live, do not disconsider Hamilton. I know that a lot of people think the violence here is absurd and the city has some issues, but I can assure one thing: the city will amaze you.
